The father of a former British soldier who was captured by Russian forces while fighting in Ukraine has told ITV News he is “extremely worried” his son will be tortured or killed. A man identifying himself as James Scott Rhys Anderson has appeared in two widely-circulated videos, wearing combat fatigues and appearing to have his hands tied.

Relatives of people killed in the Birmingham pub bombings have called for a public inquiry on the 50th anniversary of the biggest unsolved mass murder in modern British history. Twenty-one people were killed and more than 200 injured when two bombs exploded minutes apart in two city-centre pubs in November 1974. The IRA is thought to have been responsible, despite never claiming responsibility. Six men, who became known as the ‘Birmingham Six,' were wrongly convicted of murder but cleared in 1991.

They announced their retirement on a return visit to Sarajevo, where they won the Olympic gold medal for their iconic dance to Revel’s ‘Bolero’ exactly forty years ago.

An academic has rallied against her no-platforming from an education conference over suggestions she would have made other speakers feel “unsafe”. Dr Alka Sehgal Cuthbert, 62, spoke on GB News about being told that her panel discussion at the Rethinking Education conference on Saturday had been cancelled due to complaints from speakers and delegates about her attendance. Dr Cuthbert, director of Don’t Divide Us, is a vocal critic of the idea that Britain is systemically racist.
