Long-awaited government guidance for single sex schools on transgender issues has just been trailed over recent months. This guidance was expected to be released in early July 2023 but was initially delayed, purportedly as a result of anticipated opposition and criticism of the draft by activists. It has since been delayed further due to concerns raised by the Attorney General that some provisions may be unlawful.  Why is the transgender guidance for schools needed?
