    LAVERGNE — The Cookeville High School soccer team has completed a sweep of its 2-game District 7-3A season series against LaVergne as the Cavalier shut out the Wolverines 4-0 on the road Tuesday evening. The win bumps the CHS boys up to 8-1-1 overall and 5-1 in the district. “We have a lot of injuries, but I’m proud of the boys for stepping up, keeping their heads for the most part and playing the way they did,” CHS head coach Bralen Clouse said.

    LEBANON — The Cookeville High School softball team has split its 2-game District 7-4A season series against Lebanon as the Lady Cavaliers struggled to rally during a 16-6 road loss on Tuesday. The loss drops the CHS girls to 9-16 overall and 3-4 in the district. “Lebanon hit the ball well, and we didn’t make some plays that we should have,” CHS head coach Jordan Webb said. “We struggled to adjust to their pitcher, who doesn’t throw very hard.

    CROSSVILLE — The Upperman High School soccer team struggled during a District 7-2A road game on Tuesday as the Stone Memorial Panthers shut the Bees out 6-0 in Crossville. With the loss, the UHS boys fall to 1-9-1 overall and 1-4 in the district. Up next, the Bees hit the road again Thursday April 24 for a District 7-2A match against White County at 6 p.m.

    The Cookeville High School boys lacrosse team struggled in a non-region home game on Wednesday as the visiting Pope John Paul II Preparatory School Knights dominated the Cavaliers 17-4 at CHS. The loss bumps the Cavs down to 4-7 overall, but their 1-0 Region 2-2A record remains untouched. The Knights had a hot start to the game as they scored four goals early in the first quarter.

    The Cookeville High School tennis program closed out its District 7-2A regular-season schedule with 9-0 shutouts of Putnam County foe Upperman at home on Tuesday, and both teams followed that up with wins over future district foe Lebanon at home on Thursday. With two 9-0 shutouts this week, the Cavaliers’ perfect season remains alive at 13-0 overall and 6-0 in the district. With a 9-0 shutout and a 6-3 win over Lebanon, the Lady Cavs improve to 9-5 overall and 6-1 in the district.
