Jack Hoffman, the namesake of the Team Jack Foundation who won over sports fans' hearts in 2013 after he ran for a touchdown in Nebraska football's spring game at age 7, died early Wednesday after a 14-year battle with brain cancer. Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird announced Monday the American Job Center reached its goal of licensing 40 people through a truck driver training program. Since last year, the city has devoted $686,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds toward the commercial driver's license program to address the growing demand for truck drivers in Lincoln and Lancaster County.

The Lied Platte River Bridge in Cass County will be closed for the foreseeable future due to a build-up of debris, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Past rains and high water have caused trees and other debris to end up on the hike/bike trail bridge between South Bend and Platte River State Park. The bridge will be closed so the debris can be removed.
