The next iteration in the world-conquering Raspberry Pi line-up is here. HackSpace magazine caught up with Eben Upton (co-founder of Raspberry Pi and CEO of Raspberry Pi Ltd), and James Adams (CTO and principal hardware architect at Raspberry Pi, and designer of six of the seven flagship Raspberry Pi boards). Here’s what they had to say about Raspberry Pi 5…Eben: It’s our new flagship product. It’s the seventh iteration of the flagship product: we’ve had Raspberry Pi 1–4, and the 1+, and the 3+.

HackSpace: Raspberry Pi 5 – what is it? Eben: It’s our new flagship product. It’s the seventh iteration of the flagship product: we’ve had Raspberry Pi 1–4, and the 1+, and the 3+. It’s roughly two-and-a-half times as fast as a Raspberry Pi 4, which makes it about 130 times as fast as Raspberry Pi 1. If you measure using the JetStream JavaScript benchmark, it has a little over half the performance of my last-generation Intel MacBook Air.

The Most Unusual Sentence Extractor, or M.U.S.E. for short, is just about the prettiest thing featured in the latest issue of HackSpace magazine. Its creator, Brendan Charles tells us why he built this Raspberry Pi-powered typewriter. Storytelling has always been a huge part of my life; from my dad telling me elaborate bedtime stories to playing D&D with my uncle growing up. After I became a father, it was my turn to tell my kids stories.

Dr Andrew Lewis penned this Atari emulation tutorial especially for the latest issue of HackSpace magazine. If you like what you see, consider subscribing so you never miss out again. Like the Commodore Amiga, the Atari ST was an iconic home computer, offering many people their first glimpse of the 16-bit digital world. After almost 40 years, it’s still an engaging design, although the internal hardware may need a few repairs and upgrades to fit in with the modern standards.

. @racheleats the chip omelette is basically the national dish of Tanzania, known as chipsi mayai (chips and egg in Swahili). It's cold chips reheated in a frying pan, then an egg is poured over the top. It's served raw in the middle with lashings of chilli sauce.
