Saya Gray’s musical journey began in Toronto while playing in a house band for a Jamaican Pentecostal church. Eventually, she started touring with international acts like Daniel Caesar and Willow Smith as a bass player. She’s released several EPs, now she’s set to release her official debut album, Saya, on Feb. 21. “I move fast,” she says. “Transition quick, hit change! My documentations have barely kept up.… My mind & body caught up for this album. I had to calm down for this record.

This past July, L.A. band Beachwood Sparks released their first album in 12 years, Across the River of Stars. Sometimes, when a band makes a comeback after such a long hiatus, the music can be hit or miss. Do they still have ‘it’? Is this just a money grab? Thankfully, in this case you don’t need to worry about those issues. Across the River of Stars has the psychedelic country vibes longtime fans of Beachwood Sparks know and love.

If you were an indie music fan in the early 2000s, you probably came across the band TV on the Radio. Maybe you even caught them live or saw their iconic performance on Letterman in 2006. Even among the indie music scene at the time, which included bands like The Strokes, the White Stripes, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio was able to stand out with a devoted fanbase and a unique sound that included loud guitars, synthesizers, an energetic lead singer, and great production.

Halloween is here! Since we recently counted down your Top 1055 Songs of the 21st Century, I figured I’d give you five scary movies of this century that you must see if you’re a fan of horror. I shared my top 5 horror movies in a previous post (which is always subject to change, by the way), so I will not mention any movies from that previous list. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but RackaRacka (two Australian YouTubers) made an amazing horror film.

The 3rd annual Colorado Sound Music Awards are coming up this week (Wed., Sept. 18 at the Boulder Theater). And leading up to the award show I spoke with a bunch of different nominees, who were guests on The Colorado Sound Morning Show during the past few months. Our conversations were a lot of fun, so I wanted to share some “best of” moments.
