All-time Ole Miss baseball great Tim Elko added to his legend on Mother’s Day. Elko picked up his first MLB hit for the Chicago White Sox — a go-ahead, three-run home run in a 4-2 win. He gifted the ball to his mom, Cheryl, whose name he had inscribed on a special pink bat for the occasion. “It was a great feeling,” Elko told local reporters afterwards.

Tim Elko, one of the greatest and most impactful Rebels in Ole Miss baseball history, made his MLB debut on Saturday. Elko, 26, got the call from the Chicago White Sox on Friday evening, according to reporting from Vinnie Duber of the Chicago Sun Times. The three-time Ole Miss captain was slashing .348/.431/.670 to go with 10 home runs through 31 games with Triple-A Charlotte. Elko played first base and hit eighth. He finished a tough-luck 0 for 3 at the plate. Elko nearly had a storybook moment.

All-time Ole Miss football great AJ Brown on Saturday delivered the university’s 172nd graduation commencement. Brown is arguably the greatest wide receiver in program history. He’s the only Rebel in history to score multiple touchdowns in the Super Bowl. Brown stars for the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, who defeated Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, 38-35, in Super Bowl LVI back in February. “You are poised to contribute to the world in meaningful ways,” Brown said.
