A 13-year-old from Statesville will lobby lawmakers on Capitol Hill to continue funding diabetes research that might one day find a cure for her Type 1 diabetes. Keegan Bissell is headed to Washington, D.C., in July as part of the Breakthrough T1D 2025 Children’s Congress. There will be more than 100 vendors at this weekend's Spring/Summer Market + Food Festival at the Iredell County Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday. Festival4U's Events Promoter Michelle Adams said there will be food, fun, an Elvis Tribute show, bounce houses, DJs, dancing, and hourly door prizes at the community event. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at the fairgrounds located at 630 N. Main St., Troutman. Entry is free, but parking costs $5, as well as $5 for the bounce houses.

"We really wanted to capture the feeling of our bookstore through the name, which is how the Wandering Crow Bookshop came to be. We aim to create a curious and whimsical space where book lovers of all kinds can wander in and find something that piques their interest," owner Sam La Flamme said.
