I yearn for dark, subterranean areas. So, when my sophomore self learned there was a bowling class at Purdue, I couldn’t help myself. Why wouldn’t I want to take a course where I get to hurl a 15-pound sphere at pins underground? It was a dream come true. Fast forward two years and I have become a true alley rat. This semester marks the fourth time I have taken PES 115: Bowling and my only regret is I won’t be able to take it for a fifth time. However, I have several tales I can tell.

Not everything on campus is perfect. There is plenty to complain about. Scooters of SadismElectric scooters and skateboards have been one of my greatest nemeses throughout my time at Purdue. It doesn’t matter if it is a Spin, Veo or privately owned scooter. I’ve made my view on these instruments of mass destruction clear when I previously suggested all motorized forms of transportation be banned from campus to ensure pedestrian safety.

One of the great things about studying at Purdue is the vast array of different classroom chairs you can experience. There’s the classic model where the seat is attached to the desk, a staple in the classroom. Then, there are the long lecture hall tables with independent rolling chairs that are a decent typing surface if you don’t mind bumping elbows with your classmates. Having a solid, stable writing surface is not always a given.

With the demise of Bruno's, I started to reminisce about Purdue restaurants of yore. The Taco Bell in Chauncey Hill Mall closed my freshman year. It hit me hard. I lost the only place where I could buy both a laxative and food for cheap. It opened my eyes. I started to notice more restaurants and bars closing. Puccini’s was one of my favorite places to get pizza and Italian when I was down by the river. I remember their calzones were top of the line. It was a great casual place to go for a bite.

Valentine’s Day is Wednesday and if you’re anything like me, that’s terrifying. Fret not! Whether you have a bae or are making love to your calculus homework, I have you covered on heartwarming Valentine activities. Single guys and gals may find Valentine’s Day difficult to bear, but it’s easier if you focus on yourself. Personally, I always do something I enjoy on this cursed day. Some years that involves taking a walk around campus and down into Lafayette.
