Volunteers who are recovering alcoholics themselves show them a different path — one that leads to sobriety. "This house opened in April of 2017," Beky Pine tells ABC 10News. Pine is the president of the board for First Step House of North County, a house that operates from donations and helps alcoholic men get sober over a period of 10 days.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)— A sellout crowd at Petco Park got very quiet in the 4th inning tonight when star pitcher Joe Musgrove was forced to leave Game 2 of the National League Wild Card series with an injury. The Padres were leading the game 5-1 with two outs in the top of the 4th when Musgrove saw a noticeable drop in the velocity of his pitches. Manager Mike Shildt and team trainers visited the mound briefly before Musgrove headed to the dugout.

The problem isn't a new one. Refugee children are mostly placed in grade levels based on their age, but often find themselves far behind their classmates academically. Back in 2008, Melissa Phillips was a teacher at Ibarra Elementary School in City Heights, home to a large population of San Diego's refugee families.
