Red Bull’s decision to appeal the result of the Canadian Grand Prix drew widespread criticism, with Mercedes Formula 1 boss Toto Wolff branding it “petty” and “embarrassing". Formula 1’s governing body, the FIA, has axed another senior figure as part of a management shake-up. Sara Mariani, who was the organisation’s Sustainability, Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) director for the past 18 months, will now leave her position. The BBC reported that Mariani wrote in a note in her out-of-office email, saying: "It is, sadly, time to say goodbye. I loved the ride, I enjoyed every minute of it. "I enjoyed the amazing work we did and my incredibly talented team.

Nolan Siegel’s extraordinary radio rant during the Gateway race at the World Wide Technology Raceway last Sunday was nothing short of spectacular. If you missed it: on lap 83, Penske's Scott McLaughlin took the inside line into Turn 2 in an attempt to pass Siegel, only for the Arrow McLaren driver to defend by blocking the move. Moving in reaction to an overtaking attempt by blocking is not permitted under IndyCar rules due to the safety risks involved.

Williams Formula 1 team principal James Vowles has signed a new long-term deal with the squad. Vowles joined Williams in 2023 from Mercedes, where he held the role of motorsport strategy director, and had initially spoken about the daunting task he faced in turning the team around. The 45-year-old famously commented that much of the team’s car build was still run off an Excel spreadsheet.
