Focus on development in the West End heightened in October 2024, when the city and its nonprofit entity—Atlanta Urban Development Corporation (AUDC or, for short, AUD)—along with Atlanta Beltline Inc., announced they had acquired the Mall West End.

One alternative that is proving popular is the build-to-rent (BTR) model, which includes communities with apartment-style or single-family homes, or a combination of both.
