MACON, Ga. — A survey team from the National Weather Service office in Peachtree City has confirmed a tornado touched down Sunday afternoon in south Bibb County. The tornado stayed on the ground for nearly eight miles into Twiggs County. The tornado received a rating of EF1, with estimated peak winds of 90 mph. The length of the track was nearly eight miles, with a width of about four and a half football fields. There were no injuries or deaths reported as a result of the storm.

They'll issue a watch when conditions are favorable for an excessive heat event in the next 1 to 3 days, which will serve as our initial warning.
