Posted: Sunday’s weather was certainly pleasant for the first of June across central and south Alabama. Morning lows were in the 50s in many locations. Afternoon highs were only in the low to mid 80s despite sunshine. That was well below Montgomery June 1st average high temperature of 90°. Some clouds moved across southwest Alabama during the afternoon, obscuring Sunday’s sunshine a bit. Sunday night’s sky becomes mostly clear, with low temperatures in the low 60s.

Posted: Saturday was a pleasant final day of May across central and south Alabama weather-wise. Temperatures were in the 50s to low 60s at sunrise. Humidity was fairly low throughout the day. High temperatures were only in the upper 70s to low 80s in most locations, near 10° below the May 31st average high temperature in Montgomery (89°). Sunshine was abundant, but some haze filled the sky. That was due to Canadian wildfire smoke.

Posted: Sunday was mainly dry with sunshine throughout the day. Temperatures surged into the upper 80s to low 90s during the afternoon, with some humidity to boot, giving Memorial Day weekend a true summer feel. However, showers and storms look likely late Sunday evening into Sunday night. A severe thunderstorm watch covers most of our area until 3AM. Damaging wind and hail look like the main hazards. Storms may weaken with time and south/southeast extent.

Posted: Showers and storms became scattered about Saturday afternoon. A few storms were strong to severe, capable of damaging winds and hail. A complex of storms developed during the late afternoon and evening across Mississippi and west Alabama. These storms were intense for a while during the early evening in west Alabama. However, they started losing steam after sunset. Although, they may continue east across the rest of our area into Saturday night.
