    Texas Instruments (TI) is laying off workers in Utah despite recently receiving $1.6 billion in federal funding meant to help with the construction of three new semiconductor plants currently under construction in Texas and Utah. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Texas Instruments laid off workers at its existing Lehi facility, which it acquired from Micron Technology in 2021. The company said the cuts are part of efficiently supporting its long-term operational plans.

    Rise Robotics has claimed the new record for world’s strongest robotic arm, and it took a unique approach to get there. The Massachusetts startup is showcasing a prototype robotic arm that can lift more than 7,000 pounds, far surpassing the record formerly held by a Fanuc robot that lifted more than 5,000 pounds. But instead of relying on hydraulics to achieve the milestone, Rise’s prototype draws power from a fluid-free linear actuator technology that the company calls Beltdraulic.

    It’s been more than two years since Alef introduced the "Model A,” a flying car capable of street driving and vertical take-off and landing. It’s an idea right out of science fiction, but newly released footage has made it a reality. On NBC News, the startup shared footage of the flying car taking off in a field, flying over another parked vehicle, and then making a landing on its four wheels.
