    All industries are facing pressure to meet the UK Government’s target, agreed at the COP28 summit in Dubai, of achieving “net zero” by 2050, but the hospitality industry has arguably been ahead of the curve. The industry body UK Hospitality published its “Roadmap to net zero” in 2022, which set out a plan to achieve “net zero” by 2040, ten years ahead of the Government’s already ambitious target.

    Lending to individuals carries with it the inherent risk for a lender that the borrower may pass away during the term of the loan. Executors should be aware of what will actually happen at law to the borrower’s liabilities as they may need to act quickly to repay the debt.
