There’s a new date for the rivalry game between the Kentucky and Louisville men’s basketball teams. And this battle between the Cats and the Cards will be much different from years past. The annual matchup between UK and U of L has been confirmed for Nov. 11 at the Yum Center in Louisville. The game will be played on a Tuesday night and come one week before Kentucky’s annual trip to the Champions Classic, which has been the first marquee matchup for the Cats in recent seasons.

A crucial stretch in the 2025 NBA draft process is right around the corner. And what happens over the next few days will have a major impact on Mark Pope’s roster for the 2025-26 season. Of course, from a Kentucky basketball perspective, the most attention during the month of May will be on Otega Oweh, the Wildcats’ leading scorer in Pope’s first season and the only player on UK’s projected roster for next season with a realistic chance of staying in this year’s NBA draft.

Journalism will be tough to beat. Sandman has legitimate star power. Sovereignty could very well be wearing the roses by the end of the 2025 Kentucky Derby on Saturday night. But recent history indicates a major long shot might be the horse getting all of the attention after the 151st edition of the race is run at Churchill Downs in Louisville, and — even if one of those aforementioned favorites does cross the finish line first — there’s likely plenty of money to be made elsewhere.
