In 1990 he won MVP of the game with his dad, Dick, as the head coach, has been an assistant, his son Joe Stein played in the game last year and his brother, Chris Stein has also been a coach at the Shrine Bowl. “This is the third time that I’ve been able to be a part of the game and for my family… Like my eighth time being a part of the game,” Stein said.

A lopsided first inning ended with a four inning, 14-6 Bennington Post 266 win over Grand Island Five Points Bank Friday night. “Keegan (Inks) is one of our better guys and he struggled throwing strikes, but I got full confidence in him that he’s going to be alright for us,” Five Points Bank coach Adam Brown said. “They kind of punched us in the mouth that first inning and we came back and scored four.

It may have been an early start after a late night for Grand Island Home Federal but it came ready to play. Home Federal won its second game in a row, 13-2 in five innings over Lincoln Hotel Group with 15 hits on Sunday at Ryder Park. “Absolutely loved the way we came out and swung the bats today. Think we got 15 hits and just did a lot of goods things offensively, ran the bases well and had some good situational hitting,” Home Federal coach Kirby Wells said.

First pinch hitter Kelton Kearns got on base with a single. Jaxson Christensen then came in to run and immediately stole second base. That set up the top of the order and Brody Davidson drove Christensen to third with a hit and stole second. U-Save had runners on second and third with no outs.

Layup lines turned into dunking lines and deep 3-pointers turned into four and sometimes five points. That was the scene and style of basketball played during the boys Tom Dinsdale Automotive/Striv Sports All-Star Game at Grand Island Central Catholic. The girls game had more defense and the intensity was a touch higher. The boys game ended with a buzzer beater by Adams Central’s Austin Vontz to give the Chevrolet All Stars a 153-151 win.
