    Grand Island Central Catholic’s Jack Alberts stayed steady and composed with each hole at the Tri-City Invitation, Tuesday at Indianhead Golf Course. With a score of 74 and two birdies on the scorecard, Alberts came away as the winner.     The Grand Island Cup is going back to Grand Island Central Catholic. The Crusaders won the Grand Island Cup at Jackrabbit Run Golf Course with a winning score of 296. “We don’t get it very often, but it’s good. The kids played really well.     The Northwest girls soccer team had its eyes on returning to the state tournament for the second straight season. But there was just one more hurdle and one more roadblock it had to get by.     Grand Island Senior High’s Brock Cushing was dialed in from the start. The sophomore right hander took the mound in the Class A, District 5 semifinal against Omaha South. Inning by inning, batter by batter, Cushing sent the Packers batters back to the dugout.     Brooks Hubl has been playing baseball since he could walk. He grew up imagining he’d be playing for his favorite MLB team, the Athletics, or even in college wearing Carolina blue at North Carolina. But then toward the end of his junior year, Hubl decided he wasn’t going to pursue baseball in college and instead focus on school and put everything into preparing for his senior season.
