As usual, I burst into the front door at my grandparents’ house on Red Hill Road with all the subtlety of a grizzly. The door always was unlocked at that house on Red Hill Road. It seemed to be an unspoken rule that family — and particularly grandchildren — were always welcomed, so my 7-year-old self certainly didn’t bother to knock and likely leaped inside jabbering about some second-grade activity. kAm~?

Federal assistance may be available for Taylor County residents dealing with recent flooding and other severe weather. A radar-indicated tornado warning was issued at 2:30 a.m. last Thursday and debris patterns apparently indicate a twister touched down. Soon after that threat subsided, emergency officials were battling record rainfall and widespread flooding.

The Farmers’ Market is getting an early start on the season by holding its opening day celebration Saturday. Kara Back-Campbell, the local Extension Agent for horticulture, said last year 11 different vendors set up at various times.
