1 min read Suspended Labour MP Mike Amesbury has been jailed for ten weeks after punching a man in the street. Amesbury, the MP for Runcorn and Helsby since 2017, pleaded guilty in January after assaulting 45-year-old Paul Fellows in a Cheshire street. He lost the Labour whip over the incident, becoming an independent MP as a result. The court heard that he had consumed alcohol before attacking Fellows. Footage showed Amesbury hit Fellows before following him onto the road.
