    Outdoor apparel retailer Finisterre has unveiled its first product made from old wetsuits, thanks to partnership with Circular Flow. The ‘From Wetsuits’ changing mat has been designed to carry wet gear (see image, below) and double as a durable changing mat, and Finisterre said its development marks a major step forward in tackling one of the surf industry’s biggest sustainability challenges: what to do with hard-to-recycle wetsuits at the end of their lives.

    Upmarket grocer Waitrose has joined tech company Polytag’s plastic recycling Ecotrace Programme, a UK initiative aimed at transforming the tracking and recycling of packaging in the UK. As an Ecotrace member, Waitrose now gains access to the Polytag dashboard – an online hub which displays live barcode-level lifecycle data on plastic packaging materials as they enter the recycling stream.

    Tesco is placing packaging QR codes on its products as it looks to find ways to improve inventory knowledge, ensure out of date stock doesn’t leave the store, help reduce waste – and achieve a whole lot more in terms of customer experience (CX). The UK’s largest retailer started a trial at the end of March, working alongside standards organisation GS1 UK which powers the new QR codes and which is talking about the “second barcode revolution” having originally launched the tech in the 1970s.
