Giga Kick is set to fly to Queensland next Tuesday for his next Group 1 assignment, having returned to Mornington on Monday afternoon following his third placing in last Saturday's G1 Goodwood. Clayton Douglas confirmed that Mark Zahra will follow Giga Kick to Brisbane for his next assignment in the Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m) on May 31, where he is $4.50 equal favourite with Sportsbet. "He ate up last night and I took him to the beach this morning," Douglas said.

Symon Wilde bid farewell to two of his flagbearers at last week's Inglis Chairmans Sale, with Sirileo Miss and Wishlor Lass expected to head straight to the breeding barn. Sirileo Miss sold for $400,000, while Wishlor Lass made $160,000 and was purchased by a Hong Kong buyer on Thursday evening. "The Sirileo Miss purchasers, they contacted us 'umming and ahhing perhaps coming into work, but I think they are learning towards going to stud," Wilde said. "They've both been great horses for the stable.

Giga Kick's three-quarter brother Pantoja is up for sale, with the son Pariah listed on Inglis Digital and bidding set to end on Wednesday. Almost identical in looks to his superstar relation, Pantoja is stabled beside Giga Kick at Clayton Douglas' Mornington-based stable and travelled to Sydney with him last spring, finishing fourth at Rosehill. Pantoja, who is also owned by Pinecliff Racing, has had five starts and broke his maiden impressively by 3.25 lengths last October at Mornington.

Having been in hot demand, The daughter of Shamexpress was purchased on behalf of Yulong and has now returned to O'Brien's Flemington stables as she builds up to the 1400-metre contest on June 28.

Following Thursday evenings Picnic Grand Final event at Pakenham, the curtain was officially drawn on the popular circuit on Saturday night by recognising its top achievers at its annual awards evening. While familiar faces included Shaun Cooper awarded a sixth consecutive jockeys premiership and Troy Kilgower a fourth trainers title, it was Pakenham-based trainer Brooke Verwey-Mitchell and her speedy sprinter Annoy’en One who took top honours with the Horse of the Year title.
