ELLENBURG — Longtime summer getaway Blue Haven Campground and Resort has changed hands for the first time in a long time. WEST CHAZY — Sam Dyer will return to his old seat as Beekmantown Town Supervisor, and Jim Monty will be the town’s lone justice following election day. Dyer (D, Working Families) defeated challenger Brett Wyand (R), with unofficial results showing a 1,540 to 1,148 lead, Tuesday. “I’m very happy with the voter turnout, it was excellent,” Dyer said.

WEST CHAZY — On election day, Beekmantown voters will be filling the final year of a supervisor term left open due to the resignation of former Town Supervisor Norm Davis. Longtime Town Councilor Sharron Garden took the position on an interim basis when Davis stepped down earlier this year due to health concerns, but Sam Dyer and Brent Wyand will face off to take the helm for the rest of the unexpired term.

WEST CHAZY — Beekmantown residents will have an extra decision to make when they go to the polls in a few weeks. Following a resolution passed by the Beekmantown Town Board in June that reduced the Town Justice positions from two to one, several town residents went to work on drafting a petition for a permissive referendum to get the issue on the ballot this fall.

The Schuyler Falls race saw business owner Mindy Smith (Republican) beat town board member Reg Facteau (Conservative & Families First) for the seat that opened up due to current supervisor Kevin Randall running for and winning the Area 5 county legislature seat.
