The fall of the Syrian government is being heralded by Western liberals and leftists. This series of events, however, is more than just the liberation of a people from a "tyrant" leader. Liberals and their Western allies, among the social-imperialist left in the U.S. and Europe, are celebrating the end of the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria after the stunning sweep across the country by so-called “rebels” led by the Al-Qaeda offshoot, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).
