A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a car was used to “deliberately” hit and kill a 47-year-old man in Liverpool, police said. The vehicle was driven at the victim on Stonyhurst Road, Woolton, at about 11.45pm on Friday, Merseyside Police said. He died from his injuries in hospital. A 41-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Officers are appealing for anyone with information or CCTV to come forward.

Police in Wales investigating the murder of a woman siad they have found a body. Paria Veisi was reported missing after leaving her workplace in the Canton area of Cardiff at around 3pm on Saturday April 12. Her body was discovered by South Wales Police at an address in Penylan, Cardiff, on Saturday, the force said. A 41-year-old man from Penylan has been charged with murder; preventing lawful and decent burial of a dead body; and assaulting a person occasioning them actual bodily harm.

Russsian troops have continued to attack Ukraine following Vladimir Putin's callls for an Easter truce, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
