A US Department of Justice report released to Congress has found that president-elect Donald Trump would have been convicted of illegally trying to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election, if not for his recent re-election victory in 2024. The findings concluded that Mr Trump had engaged "unprecedented criminal effort" to hold onto power. The president-elect has described Mr Smith as deranged, claiming that the findings are fake.
