Audubon school board approves measures

The Audubon School Board approved a few measures and discussed others at their meeting on Monday, May 17th. One item approved was an LGRP Agreement. Superintendent Trevor Miller says this is a "Consortium agreement for the district, part of the Natural Gas consortium that helps us save money."Another approval was for AEA Purchasing. Miller explains, "This agreement allows us to participate in the consortium, securing better pricing.

The Audubon School Board approved a measure during its February meeting to make Yearbook an extracurricular activity. According to Superintendent Trevor Miller, Yearbook will no longer be a class starting in the 2025-26 school year. The board also approved adding Film as Literature and dropping Contemporary Literature. A public hearing has been scheduled during their March meeting for the use of Flex Funds.

The 35th annual Project 60 went over as a big success in Audubon this year. It is hosted by the Audubon High School Student Senate each December. Event Organizer Elizabeth Brittain says, "It's usually the first week but we pushed it back this year so it would take place the same day as the vocal concert.

Discussions on law enforcement sharing are ramping up in Audubon County. A joint meeting between the Audubon County Board of Supervisors and Audubon City Council took place on Tuesday, November 12th. According to meeting minutes, City Council Members Jim Richardson and Andrew Grabill along with Sheriff Todd Johnson and Police Chief Coby Gust previously met and were all in favor of moving forward with a consolidation.

Travis Nelson and Tom Benton appeared in front of the Exira City Council during their September meeting to ask for support. The Council agreed to sponsor the effort which opens the door for grant applications that require city backing.
Car show part of T-Bone Days

An event gaining popularity as part of Audubon's Operation T-Bone Day's is the Show and Shine Car Show. 3N1 Detailing and Polishing is the sponsor of the show. Owner John Hansen III says there were 60 entries last year, up significantly from 2022, "This year we are hoping for at least 100." This is their second year of sponsoring the show. "The Chamber chatted with us and last year was kind of a short notice." Hansen says they only had about three and a half to four weeks to prepare for the event.
Miller to take over as Audubon superintendent

Trevor Miller is set to take over duties as the Superintendent of Schools at Audubon. Miller will be shared 50/50 with the Exira-EHK School District. He has experience with splitting time between schools.
Exira-EHK Board approves milk, bread and fuel bids

The Exira-EHK School Board has approved bids for milk, bread, and fuel among other items. The board met on June 19. Anderson-Erickson was the only milk bid, according to Superintendent Trevor Miller, "We have had them for the past several years and they have done a great job so we are happy to stay with them."The board agreed on a max price with Olsen Fuel Supply.
