    SIMPSON, La. (KALB) - The Village of Simpson braved the heat for the village’s first Red, White and Blue festival on Saturday, June 29. The event featured a lively parade showcasing classic cars, first responders and horses, to the delight attendees of all ages. Also in appearance was KALB’s weather truck. Meteorologist Kaylee Whittaker, chief photographer Billy Carrier and Bennett Roland Jr., all had a wonderful time.

    ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Judge Mary Doggett has ruled that the case against Police Juror Jay Scott can proceed. Back in March, Police Jury President Joe Bishop filed an injunction on Scott. In it, he accused Scott of threatening jurors in public and in front of parish employees; as well as “using indecent and repugnant vulgarisms” with jurors. Scott’s attorney, Thomas Davenport, then filed a motion claiming Bishop’s allegations were too vague to mount a defense, but Judge Doggett disagreed.

    ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Greater Alexandria Economic Authority (GAEDA) Board was in court on Monday, June 19. Judge Monique Rauls heard a case brought by newly appointed GAEDA commissioner John Callis. Callis questioned the legality of the February meeting in which the approval of the executive director contract took place.
