1 IntroductionIn-vivo measurement of joint contact forces (JCF) provides highly accurate measures of tissue loading (Bergmann et al., 2016). Tissue loading information is crucial for the understanding of disease progression, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and even the designing of new artificial joints or limbs. However, in-vivo measurements require invasive instrumentation (Bergmann et al., 2016), which cannot be readily extended to the study of both healthy and pathological participants.
