1. Introduction Dysfunction of monoamine neurotransmission, such as the dopamine system, was believed to contribute to schizophrenia (SZ) (Howes and Kapur, 2009; Purves-Tyson et al., 2017). However, increasing evidence suggests that inflammatory and autoimmune disorders play an important role in the etiology of SZ (Ganguli et al., 1994; Boerrigter et al., 2017; Purves-Tyson et al., 2020).
