In a 6-0 vote, with member Deb Long absent, the board voted to hire Meyer at a salary of $158,000 a year, with a start date of July 1, 2025. He is currently the Superintendent for USD 350, St. John-Hudson.

The resignation came as part of the personnel report handled with routine multiple consent agenda items at the regular board meeting and not acted upon separately. Schrum was hired by the board four years ago to begin with the 2021-2022 school year. Scott Meitler, assistant superintendent, updated the board on the progress of early education in the district.
