America is the 1960’s was a time of darkness and light. Like a modern day pandemic, many were infected with the scourge of racism. In certain regions of the country the racism was overt and obvious, while in others it was covert, expressed in a comment or disapproving look. Few places of America remained untouched by this evil.

Although accusations of witchcraft were not new to Scotland, the North Berwick Witch Trials were the first mass trials to take place. But what caused the obsession to spread to a country that had remained mostly untouched by the craze? Scotland’s monarch, King James VI of Scotland (and later I of England), is well-known today for his obsession with witches.
