    Audiences across the Pacific have welcomed Moana 2 and cheered seeing aspects of their culture on the big screen, while Disney’s portrayal of the demigod character Maui has drawn some criticism for reinforcing stereotypes. A sequel to the 2016 animated film, Moana 2 reunites Auli’i Cravalho as the wayfinding title character with Maui, voiced by Dwayne Johnson, on a voyage to break a curse and reunite the people of the ocean.

    By:  Bethanie HarrimanAfter making his debut for the PNG Barramundi in the T20 World Cup earlier in the year, John Kariko has lined up to represent his country again in the ICC Men's Challenge League being held in Kenya and Uganda. At 20 years old, Kariko is the Barramundi's youngest national men's representative currently in the squad. The left-handed spin bowler, although nervous in his debut, managed to take the wicket of West Indies star Nicholas Pooran and went on to bowl his full four overs.

    On Karkar island in Papua New Guinea, hundreds of coconut trees stand tall, stretching far into the distance. Decades ago, the fruit was a lucrative export but over the years it has become less prized on international markets. Now, the small island off the north coast of the country, is putting coconuts to another use. The oil from copra – the white flesh from the coconut – is used to produce biodiesel, a renewable fuel made from biological sources, such as vegetable oils or animal fats.
