Director Sepideh Farsi on the shock of losing Fatma Hassona, the Palestinian subject of her film, in an Israeli missile strike just weeks before its Cannes premiere. The film world was shocked yesterday to learn of the death of Fatma Hassona, a 25-year-old Palestinian photojournalist and the subject of Sepideh Farsi’s documentary Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk, which is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Joe Wright’s 2005 adaptation is filled with lovely images, but it’s all still so experiential, like we’re witnessing everything through the characters’ eyes. Joe Wright’s 2005 film of Pride & Prejudice has aged, but it’s done so beautifully. The movie, back in theaters for its 20th anniversary, is well worth a revisit, both for the ways in which it’s changed and for the ways in which it hasn’t.
