Jones as the next vice chancellor for its regional campuses. He will begin his new role Aug. 1, according to a news release from the university. The medical school has nine regional campuses throughout the state. They were formerly known as Area Health Education Centers.

The Newton County Quorum Court passed an emergency ordinance Monday night banning the construction of any commercial wind or solar farms in the county for the remainder of the year. The vote was five for and one against, with three absent, according to the county clerk's office. Justice of the Peace Arlis Jones said he was one of the five who voted for the moratorium. "They're a menace," he said of wind turbines.

The national forests in Arkansas will temporarily reduce services or issue closures at some recreation areas this summer because of "damage from a natural disaster event, planned/ongoing construction, reconstruction or maintenance," according to a news release.
