Gwenno has shared ' War', the haunting second track to be taken from her forthcoming trilingual fourth album Utopia. ' War' picks up a poem written by Welsh artist and poet Edrica Huws (Vingt-Et-Un) around the start of WWII and reimagines it inside a deep and hypnotic piece of dub heavy piano music. As ever, Gwenno's vision is masterful, jumping Huws' poem 80 years into the future to sit right at the heart of the daily chaos of the 21st century we're living through.

Stereolab have shared their new single 'Melodie Is A Wound ', a delightful follow-up single to their new album's announcement earlier in the month, a looping woozy carousel of analogue synths, clip clopping drum machine beats and dexterous guitar licks, garnished with Laetitia Sadier's magnetic vocals and top toeing, beguiling melodies. It sounds like an escapist peer across the vista following a sunny stroll down the promenade. It arrives alongside a Stereolab-themed cryptic crossword puzzle.

Mike Peters of the Welsh band The Alarm died on Tuesday aged 66. The sad news was announced by The Alarm's official Instagram page, writing that Peters is now "totally free". No cause of death has been given but Peters had bravely fought blood cancer for thirty years since being first diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1995. Having founded the cancer charity foundation Love Hope Strength with his wife Jules, it revolutionised awareness and action around stem cell donation.

Los Angeles shoegazers Steel Wool recently released their self-titled debut EP (cassette and digital) via independent LA label Bug Body. The group, consisting of Sean Lissner (guitar/singing), Jaden Amjadi (bass/screaming), Sam Schlesinger (guitar), and Evan Landi (drums) have developed a reputation for their boisterous live shows in garages, backyards, and DIY haunts of all stripes.

Six years ago, while holidaying in Spain, erstwhile Rialto singer and song-writer Louis Eliot was rushed to hospital for extreme emergency surgery, mere hours from death. His full recovery was an epiphany. "When something like that happens, you really get the 'this isn't a rehearsal' feeling, and you just think 'wow, I've got to do what I'm interested in doing' and change lanes." Eliot is telling me about how this near death experience was the spark for Rialto's come back with a rejigged line up.
