We have come to the Mother’s Day junction of the baseball season and while, granted, Aaron Judge is having a Ruthian MVP season for the ages, who among us could have envisioned the Yankees holding down first place in the American League East since April 14 without theservices of their two top starting pitchers from a year ago, Gerrit Cole and Luis Gil?

NEW YORK — Baseball can often be a fickle game where the players making the most money suddenly have trouble living up to it and inexplicably find themselves being out-performed by someone whose salary is a fraction of theirs. It’s happening all over baseball this spring, none more so than in New York where, in the month of April, who was more valuable to the Mets, Juan Soto or Luis Torrens? Or who was a more effective late-inning reliever for the Yankees, Devin Williams or Fernando Cruz?

Proud Dad today! 🙏🏼❤️ My third child, William Hudler got his undergraduate degree from Bushnell University. Great ball player, exceptional student, but above all, quality character. https://t.co/l4DoJwjdrA
