If the recent East Hampton Library Authors Night was the granddaddy of Hampton’s book gatherings, this is an afternoon tea, with rose. In fact, forget the tea. Dubbed ‘Books and Cocktails’ and held at the Capri in Southampton on Wednesday, the authors here are from “independent publishers to Random House,” Jane Ubell-Meyer explained.

A funny thing happened on the way to Southampton. Comedy is back for an encore this summer at Main Prospect. The bar and restaurant started weekly comedic showcases last year, bringing funny folks from New York City out to their main stage. Long Island’s own Tom Kelly helped open this season last week.
