The third-grade basketball team from Laredo's United Day School traveled to Monterrey, Mexico, on March 30. The nearly 300-mile round-trip was worth it. United Day School became the national champions of Mexico with its win in the National Elite School Tournament. Over the four-day tournament, United Day School went 7-0, including wins against Mexico teams from Monterrey, Saltillo, Zacatecas, Monclova, Chihuahua and more.

An unnamed donor has made a significant contribution to the Division I basketball program.
