First described by Hamm, Stevenson and Mathes in 1986,1 the pedicled fillet-of-sole (PFOS) flap is a musculofasciocutaneous flap consisting of the glabrous sole skin and the plantar foot muscles. It is based on the posterior tibial neurovascular bundle, which may be islanded and coiled beneath the flap, and is sensate, with the heel pad supplied by the calcaneal branches of the tibial nerve.
