With four-year starting punter Mark Crawford out of eligibility, head coach P.J. Fleck and co. have added a pair of transfer punters to bolster the search for his replacement. UCLA punter Brody Richter and Australia native Tom Weston have each grabbed an oar. Richter has bounced around a couple programs, from Arizona State to Northern Arizona to UCLA, before landing in the Twin Cities.

Purdue defensive tackle Mariere “Mo” Omonode announced earlier this week that he will transfer to Minnesota to play for the Gophers in his final year of eligibility. Vanderbilt running back Johann Cardenas will transfer to Minnesota after redshirting as a true freshman last season with the Commodores. He will reunite with his former running backs coach Jayden Everett, who accepted the same position with the Gophers after the departure of Nic McKissic-Luke to the NFL. Cardenas was a three-star recruit out of high school, signing with Vanderbilt over other Power 4 offers from Missouri, BYU, Colorado, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Oregon, SMU, and Texas Tech.
