ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Inside Parkettes Gymnastic Center, the typical high-flying moves are making space for special routines. "How are you feeling a day before the Olympics?""Excited. Probably won't sleep that well tonight because I'm too excited to sleep," said 35-year-old Brittney Thayer. She is one of 65 statewide Special Olympians set to participate in a Special Olympics competition at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Allentown center. "The Special Olympics is fun," Said 12-year-old Flo.

UPPER SAUCON TWP., Pa. - One in 31 kids in the United States is diagnosed with autism. April is Autism Awareness Month, now increasingly recognized as Autism Acceptance Month. Four-year-old Nathan may be non-verbal, but his unique perspective speaks volumes. "He has his AAC, that's what he uses. They've done a great job with teaching him how to use it and be able to communicate with us," said his mom, Sara Valiente. Valiente takes Nathan to Helping Hands Therapy in Center Valley five days a week.

"This is a circular sock knitter and designed to make exactly that, to make socks," said a museum volunteer. SHILLINGTON, Pa. - "Everybody's had a chance to do this over the course of the last five years, but a lot of people have waited to the last minute," said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll. To help placate procrastinators, Carroll says hours are extended at 57 PennDOT centers statewide, to include Mondays for people to get their Real ID. One in Shillington Berks County had no line Monday morning.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - This Friday was of the last lunch rush hours for the Downtown Allentown Market. "It's upsetting, but it's the reality," said patron Al Jacobsen. Opening to a robust crowd and a full taste of businesses, the market's October 2019 start, hit a heavy hiccup with COVID, and as work life shifted, hours were shortened. Owner City Center is closing the 12,000-square-foot market April 17 as only three tenants remain.
