Dr. Michael Press, 73, passed away peacefully in his home on April 1, 2025. Graveside services were held Friday, April 4, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, with Rabbi Scott Colbert officiating. A reception followed the service. Michael was born on Jan. 13, 1952, in Hampton, Va., to Margaret (née Goldstein) and Murray Press. He attended Hampton High School where he was a proud member of the state champion basketball team in 1969.

Ingried passed away on Feb. 27, 2025. Her funeral was held on Feb. 28, and she was buried in the Orthodox section of Arlington Memorial Park. She was born in Birmingham, Ala., on July 25, 1945, to Sadie Koplon Katz and David Katz, founding members of Beth Jacob Synagogue. At the time of her passing, Ingried was the longest living lifetime member of the synagogue. In Atlanta, Ingried attended Morningside Elementary and Grady High School. As a teenager, she was elected Sweetheart of AZA Chapter 518.

Phyllis Gershon Arnold, a beloved wife, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on March 31, 2025. She was born on Oct. 27, 1934, in Carrollton, Ga., the youngest child of Sam and Jeanette Gershon. She spent much of her childhood in Carrollton until the family eventually relocated to Atlanta, where they were lifelong members of Ahavath Achim Synagogue. Judaism was always an important part of her identity.

Robert William Levy, 56, passed away on March 12, 2025, from an infection that was a complication of treatment for leukemia. His immediate family in Australia and several relatives from the U.S. were by his side. Born in Chicago in March 1969, Rob (aka Robbie) moved to Atlanta with his family at age 2. After graduating from Riverwood High School in Sandy Springs and the University of Georgia, he set out to explore the world (a choice that has inspired many of his family members to do the same).

Sitting through a performance of “A Beautiful Noise,” the Broadway musical about Neil Diamond at The Fox Theater, was almost like being swept back 40 years. It was then that the Brooklyn-born singer who had grown up in Flatbush had the world in the palm of his hand. As the familiar melodies shook the rafters of the old movie palace and the bright lights pulsed over a steadily energized and swaying audience, one could imagine that the great performer had suddenly sprung back to the concert stage.

The American Jewish Committee partnered with Temple Emanu-El in Dunwoody to present its annual Passover Unity Seder on March 25. It was the first time the event had been held at the Dunwoody congregation. Approximately 340 people representing several faith communities took part in this year’s seder. Almost three dozen representatives of various civic and religious groups, as well as diplomats from the Atlanta consular corps and three area mayors took part.
