Michael Fark, the Municipality of Jasper’s Director of Recovery, has been selected as the 2025 Liberal candidate for Yellowhead. While as of March 27 the party hadn’t officially announced his nomination, Fark confirmed to The Jasper Local that he is the expected candidate. The writ was dropped on Sunday, March 23 by Prime Minister Mark Carney, signalling a federal election on April 28.

Move-in day for first interim housing residents Today was the long-awaited move-in day for residents of Jasper’s interim housing. No more road blocks: first 60 housing units arrive in Jasper The first trailer loads of Jasper’s interim housing units were trucked into the community today (February 11, 2025). Squeezing under the 5.1 metre CN bridge at the east end of Jasper, 60 mobile housing structures— procured by Parks Canada after months of uncertainty in the community—began arriving on a sunny morning under the escort of local RCMP and emergency responders.
