With the events that occured on July 13th, 2024, a reminder that posts wishing that the attempt was successful will not be tolerated. Regardless of political affiliation, at no point is any type of post wishing death on someone is allowed and will be actioned appropriately by CF Staff.

2 Huddled around the start line of the Western States 100, a motley crew blew warm air into their hands to fend off the sting of mountain air, amidst the sound of nervous laughter and the smell of coffee. This was the crucible many dream of, where sweat, nerves and camaraderie forge the true grit of American trail running. For Sarah, a nurse from Chicago, it was unspoiled territory.

I don’t know if this is just an Arizona thing (I’m originally from the East coast), but it drives me nuts when I pull into a gas station and can’t get to a pump because people decide to park at the pump before heading into the store to do whatever. I pulled into a station today and luckily there was an open pump. The station only had 4 pumps and 2 of them had empty cars occupying the space. Owners were nowhere to be found.

Snowshoe Thompson’s pretty much a household name in this part of California if you have a modicum of interest in history—and he’s well known across the US and in Norway, from where he hailed. Less well-known is his wife Agnes…in fact, when beginning work on this story, the comment was heard, “Snowshoe Thompson had a wife?”While Agnes must have been an exceptional person to match steps with her husband, we don’t know much about her.

Thiem's Brisbane match was briefly suspended so a deadly snake could be removed. www.tennisworldusa.orgA small eastern brown snake held up play at the Brisbane International Tennis Championships today. It had previously been delayed due to storms. Security and a snake catcher are called in after a slippery (and dangerous) customer slithers onto court in Brisbane. www.abc.net.auWe had one in the backyard a few years ago, probably about the same size.
