A poll to gauge the public’s views on teaching character and morals in public school classrooms found an overwhelming amount of support. The poll, conducted by RMG Research, surveyed 1,000 registered voters on behalf of LifeWise Academy, the Bible lesson ministry designed for school children. Among the survey results, 41% and 35% respectively said they “strongly favor” or “somewhat favor” teaching moral and character education to public school children.

At UConn School of Medicine, the incoming class of 2028 was required to recite an oath that promises to “actively support policies that promote social justice and specifically work to dismantle policies that perpetuate inequities, exclusion, discrimination and racism.” That oath has been recited by first-year UConn med students since 2022 during their White Coat Ceremony. That special and memorable day marks the beginning of their journey through medical school or dental school.

The state’s lawmakers earlier this week rejected two proposals by Republicans to ban biological males, who identify as female, from participating in girls’ and women’s sports teams. One, if passed, the bill would have required the California Interscholastic Federation to ban biological males from participating on girls’ sports teams. The second would have reversed a 2013 law allowing students to participate in sex-segregated school programs, including sports teams.

President Santa Ono says the University of Michigan decided to comply after receiving a letter from the Trump administration warning that its continued diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) program would cost the university its federal funds. In fiscal year 2024, the University of Michigan received more than $1 billion in federal money.

Today, in what is expected to be a heated political showdown, a bill called the “Protect Girls’ Sports Act” is scheduled to be debated in a public hearing. The legislation was introduced by Kate Sanchez, a Republican assembly member. Her bill asks the California Interscholastic Federation to keep transgender girls – boys – out of all-female sports in the state. CIF is the governing body for high school sports in the state.
