Posted Tuesday, February 18, 2025 12:00 am We built our name on environmental reporting. In the last seven years, we have really embraced Indigenous Affairs reporting. We were among the first non-native publications in the country to create a desk with a team of journalists specifically dedicated to issues of concern to Native communities.” High Country News has told the environmental and ecological stories of the Western United States for more than 50 years. In so doing, the publication has...

Posted Friday, January 17, 2025 12:00 am One thing that people were drawn to over and over were photographs that showed resilience, and they also seem to gravitate toward photos where the people that were injured or had been affected by the war were looking straight at the camera.” Your readers are probably not as sensitive to graphic war photography as you think. That’s the takeaway from academics who led a study examining readers’ sensitivity to photos that depict war’s reality. Dr. Keith...

We are researching the facts on the ground — empirical research and journalistic research. Then, we do analysis that we publish in a variety of ways. We aim to help the media and policymaker communities better understand the issues, ask better questions and identify the correct problems.

Posted Thursday, December 5, 2024 12:00 am Our stories go out to the Black Press around the country. So we’re also helping Black newspapers that may not have the resources to cover, say, Capitol Hill, which our students do, and to cover the White House, which our students have done. So, our students are engaging in and practicing journalism but sharing those important stories through the National Newspaper Publishers Association. … They write about the issues of the day.” Howard University’s...

Posted Tuesday, November 12, 2024 12:00 am AAJA was created in 1981 because there was a group of journalists who felt like they didn’t see themselves in the media and wanted to be represented, and we’re really proud that we have grown and are a much stronger organization. But we know that there’s still a lot of work to do, so we’re always trying to make sure we’re advocating for our journalists and ensuring our coverage is accurate.” It’s not just a message on the website. What is Nov. 5 Really About? The Democrats beat the airways that the Republicans are going to destroy democracy. They throw out a multitude of "examples". One of the big "proofs" is the document titled Project 2025. Understand that this document was created and put forth not by Republicans but a creative "think tank.". The document is not part of any Republican plan for implementation — none of it. Look what the Democrats a plreanning on implementing if or when they gain control.

I want to thank the Brookline School Committee for endorsing yes on Ballot Question 2. This continues a 25-year tradition of the Brookline School Committee as a leader in creative education, new ideas and pedagogy, and opposing standardized testing as a single measure of student achievement. While the MCAS will still be given if Q2 passes, we will stop punishing students by denying them a high school diploma.

Posted Wednesday, October 23, 2024 12:00 am I’m really proud of our staff for several reasons. Our staff is very diverse. It’s not purely about race or gender. For me, it has to do with experience and type of background. To some degree, we all fall on a spectrum of what it means to be Haitian or Haitian American and what that experience looks like.” The nation of Haiti is more than its headlines, and to know Haiti is to know its people. The Haitian Times knows its people. Thrust into the...

Sen. Jon Tester is straining, grasping at straws, and now is even "biting the hand that has fed him" — President Biden. He and his political action group have produced falsehood after falsehood about his opponent, Tim Sheehy. They literally pay people to participate in false advertising in an attempt to gain votes. Not too long ago the Biden/Harris administration approved a plan to provide $5 billion for Black farmers that excluded white and other minority farmers. Tester supported it.
