Northeastern Women’s Golf Association president Deb DiMaggio of Ballston Spa Country Club admits that her historic organization is aging, but it’s also moving forward with new members and new tournament sites. NEWGA, founded in 1929 with six original members — Albany Country Club, Colonie Country Club, Mohawk Golf Club, Schuyler Meadows Club, the Country Club of Troy and Wolferts Roost Country Club — now has 24 courses in the fold.

Mike Neumann became part of local bowling history when he won the inaugural Players Tour NY Revolutions’ Open at Boulevard Bowl Sunday over an extremely strong field. But he almost missed out on the opportunity to add another jewel to his resume. Family is the first priority for Neumann, whose father is Section 2 bowling administrator, Columbia High School coach and regional pro Bill Neumann and whose sister, Suzie Morine, recently was runner-up in the NYS Queens Championship.
