A recent article said Greenville police issued 300-plus citations for loud cars in the past year, the majority in the eastern sector. We live in eastern Greenville, near Fourth Street, and on most days cars and motorcycles screech, squeal and pop from mid-afternoon until after midnight. It's impossible to sit on our porch to read, and it's darn scary to be awakened at 2 a.m. by a car emitting what sounds like gunshots. BrownLea, Fourth, Fifth and 10th are virtual racetracks for these vehicles.
