The decision to give combat boats to Ukraine may seem surprising, as Ukraine primarily needs effective air defense systems, armored vehicles, artillery pieces and ammunition. However, combat boats can be equally important and are certainly timely. The ASCOD infantry fighting vehicle is a joint development of two companies – Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeug AG and Santa Bárbara Sistemas. The name ASCOD, which stands for Austrian-Spanish Cooperative Development, reflects the two companies’ origins. Follow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official. Since 2003, both have belonged to General Dynamics Corporation. Their first joint work on the creation of the ASCOD began in 1988 and in 1990, two prototypes were handed over for testing.

If the US decides to transfer JASSM missiles to Ukraine, it will significantly expand the capabilities of the already provided F-16s, as well as those aircraft that will be delivered to Ukraine in the future. Iran has signed a new agreement with Russia that provides for the supply of Iranian ballistic missiles for the war in Ukraine, according to Reuters. Since the beginning of the war, Russia has been actively importing various types of weapons from all its ‘allied’ states. North Korea, with which Russia has signed a mutual defenseagreement, has already been supplying Russia with ballistic missiles for the war in Ukraine, and now Iran may initiate the delivery of such missiles.

The contract for the construction of two ADA-class corvettes for the Ukrainian Navy between Ukraine's Defense Ministry and Turkish shipbuilders was concluded in December 2020. The construction of the first, named Hetman Ivan Mazepa, started in September 2021 and was launched on Oct. 2, 2022. The construction of the second, Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky, began in 2023 and it was launched on Aug. 1, 2024.
